Variety In Cellular Phones
I don’t understand why there is such a huge variety in cellular phones, but you cannot really get one that does not have all the new bells and whistles. I might be old school in technology, but I really only want a phone that can call, get good reception, and have a battery that lasts.
These new cellular phones have just about everything you could possibly ever use a piece of technology for. From taking pictures to checking your email, these cellular phones provide options that are beyond belief. Now, you can take video with your cell phone. You can also text message back and forth without actually talking to a person, which is very similar to instant messaging online. The only problem with this is that most cellular carriers charge a separate charge for each text message you send during a billing period. This generally isn’t a big deal for most people, but if you have multiple cellular phones in your family that use this feature your bill can get quite high without realizing it until it is too late.
In addition to text messaging you are now able to take photos with cellular phones, which I really am not that fond of. In theory it is useful, as I have seen people at ball fields taking photos without dragging around a digital camera. However, the quality of the picture is something that could use some improvement. They tend to be quite blurry, mainly because they do not have the focus feature that many digital cameras now do. From what I have seen the cellular phones are progressing, so hopefully they will be better in the near future.
Cellular phones are now also customizable to your personality, which really drives me personally insane. Now you are able to download different ring tones in addition to the several options that are available on cellular phones out of the package. Cellular phones now even have the capability of sounding just like a radio and not those awful rings that tried to sound like songs but completely missed the mark. I suppose that if people are going to be using every ring tone under the sun, it should at least sound like the actual song rather than a Beethoven symphony played by a bunch of tin cans.
These different features for cellular phones may be fun in some cases, but I simply use my cell phone as my home phone rather than paying another bill. My phone is so bulky because it has a camera with a lens that I never use, and was probably more expensive because of all the extras that I never use. Why can’t they offer an option that doesn’t have these extras, but still actually works?
